Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine strategies for strengthening the knowledge economy through the human development index and the number of employed people in Indonesia. Indonesia's human development index is of moderate quality, and therefore, efforts must be made to improve it through the knowledge economy. Meanwhile, the number of employed people in Indonesia still requires significant time in Indonesia. The research method uses panel data regression estimation with a dummy variable least squares regression approach with interaction effects to measure the influence of the knowledge variables used on the human development index. Meanwhile, for the number of employed people, generalized least squares is used. The results of the study prove that the Human Development Index is capable and has a positive and significant effect on the knowledge variables, namely education, technology, innovation, and institutions. Technology has the highest coefficient on the human development index compared to other variables such as education, innovation, and institutions. Meanwhile, looking at the knowledge variables used for the number of employed people, such as education, technology, innovation, and institutions, although each number is small, it is still positive and significant. Ultimately, the quality of human resources through the human development index and the number of employed people in Indonesia will be one of the most important resources in Indonesia.
